Description

I'm now making Pokemon art! And what better way to start off than the first Pokemon no the Pokedex?! Who's that Pokemon? It's Bulbasuar!

Num: 001
Type: Grass/Poison
Abilities: Overgrow / Chlorophyl
Egg Group: Monster / Grass
Height: 2'04
Weight: 15.2 lbs
Reg. Num: Kan:001 Jho:231 Kal:080
P'dex Col: Green
P'dex En: Red & Blue: A strange seed was planted on it's back at birth. The plant sprouts and grows with this Pokémon.
Yellow: It can go for days without eating a single morsel. In the bulb on it's back, it stores energy.
Gold: The seed on it's back is filled with nutrients. The seed grows steadily larger as it's body grows.
Silver: It carries a seed on its back right from birth. As it grows older, the seed also grows larger.
Crystal: While it is young, it uses the nutrients that are stored in the seeds on its back in order to grow.
Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald: Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.
Diamond, Pearl & Platinum: For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back.

Trv: In the Japanese Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue, international Pokemon Red and Blue, and Japanese Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen,Professor Oak classifies Bulbasaur as the "plant Pokémon" (Japanese: しょくぶつポケモン) when the player is about to choose it as their starter, using the term while referring to its type. In the English versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, he calls it the "grass Pokémon".
This also occurs in the first episode of Pokemon Origins.

Bulbasaur's evolution family is the only starter Pokémon evolution family to have each member appear at least once in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Bulbasaur and its evolutions share their category with Sunkern. They are all known as the Seed Pokémon.

Bulbasaur's number in the National Pokedex and the Fiore Browser are the same: 001.

In Gold & Silver, Bulbasaur is programmed to be able to learn Charm through breeding, but no other Pokémon in the Grass or Monster Groups can legitimately learn it to pass down as an Egg Move in those games. In Gen 3 & 4, Bulbasaur can inherit the move from Shroomish by chain breeding; in Generation V on, Bulbasaur can inherit the move directly from Cottenee.
